Dr. Laura M. Arpan is the Theodore Clevenger Professor of Communication and Director of Doctoral Studies in the School of Communication at Florida State University. Dr. Arpan’s research examines risk perceptions, human motivation and responses to pro-environmental messages, interventions, and related technologies. Her projects focus on the effectiveness of promotional messages and outreach efforts designed to encourage sustainable behaviors such as energy conservation and efficiency. Recent work has examined Americans’ attitudes toward energy conservation and sustainability, factors enhancing the effectiveness of information campaign messages promoting energy-use-reduction and sustainability

Jin Wen, Ph.D.
Dr. Jin Wen is a Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at Drexel University. She is actively involved with teaching and research in the building energy efficiency and indoor air quality areas. She is the founding director of Drexel’s Building Science and Engineering Group (BSEG). Her research interests include building energy system fault diagnosis, building-grid integration, building dynamic system simulation, advanced building envelope, indoor air quality, and big engineering data. Her research has been funded by both federal and industrial agencies such as the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, National Institute of Standards and Technology, American Society of Heating, Ventilating, and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), etc.

Dr. Wen has worked closely with the industry and national laboratories. She currently serves as the Vice Chair (and past research chair) for the Smart Building Systems technical committee (TC 7.5), as well as a voting member for the Control Systems technical committee (TC 1.4) in ASHRAE. Dr. Wen is the faculty advisor for ASHRAE Drexel University Student Chapter (ASHRAE@DU). Dr. Wen worked for Johnson Controls, Inc. (Beijing, China) as an application engineer before she joined in Drexel University in 2003.
